Concierto de medio día en Los Andes

El jueves 27 de agosto se presentó el EL TRÍO XUMAPAZ en la sala de música Ernesto Martín de la Universidad de los Andes. El concierto se realizó en el marco de Conciertos de Medio día que organiza la Universidad. El trío, conformado por Sally Station (guitarra y voz), Javier Pérez (percusión y voz) y Alexei Restrepo (guitarra y voz), tuvo el placer de tocar para la ocasión con el bajista de Xumapaz Alex Vargas. Todos unidos en amor por una música suave pero con mucha fuerza e infinita "alma".

El pasado viernes 28 de agosto se presentó el Trio Xumapaz (Sally Station, Alexei Restrepo y Javier Pérez) en un sitio muy especial: BARCAROLA.
Un ambiente muy acogedor, vinos y cocteles deliciosos acompañaron la velada y al trío en su presentación.

El domingo 2 de agosto se presentó el grupo XUMAPAZ en uno de los principales centros culturales para la difusión de la música popular en la capital: la media torta.El grupo se presentó junto con destacadas agrupaciones de las nuevas tendencias musicales y el jazz.

Thursdays in Criolla with Trio Xumapaz

Every other Thursday of the month, Trio Xumapaz (that's three of us from the full band -- Sally Station, Alexei Restrepo and Javier Pérez) sets up shop at Criolla. We invite a different guest every time and have a ball with all the tunes we don't get to play in the complete Xumapaz formation: jazz standards, bossa nova, solo pieces, quirky little tunes that don't fit into any repertoire except this one...

The ambience is warm and cozy, the wine is fine, the music is FREE and full of surprises... Come along and join us.

Busman's Holiday

well, 2009 is off to a... wet start here in Bogotá. I remind myself it's not snow. January being a slow month for musicians (I'm probably not supposed to say that because it doesn't make for good commercial copy but it's true.), some of the Xumapaces got together to learn somebody else's material for a change. We entered a contest! Weeeeeeeee! Haven't done that since... jeez, I can't remember when. In any case, the Spanish band "Presuntos Implicados" has taken a page out of "Iron Maiden's" book (I'm not kidding) and are looking for Latin American artists who can climb up on stage with them during their LA tour and sing one of the songs from their new album. Javi decided we should send in a YouTube vid of our own... Here's the link:

I love Colombia! And my friends!

Once again, this country took us in and for a delicious ride! This time through the Montes de María (thanks to our guide, dancer extraordinaire Pedro Murillo), to El Rincón, Sucre (thanks to Pili la divina), Rio Cedro, Sucre (thanks to Claudia V. and the Restrepo-Jaramillo clan) and to Isla Fuerte off the Caribbean coast (thanks to Mari and Stevey, elegantísimos y generosos).
